Construction drawings, the set the building actually gets built from
Between an approved scheme and a finished building sits a set of drawings that most homeowners never hear about until a builder asks for them. Construction drawings describe how the parts meet, and their absence is the single most reliable predictor of variations, delays and arguments on site.

Frequently asked
Straight answers.
- Are construction drawings the same as building regulation drawings?
- They overlap heavily. A building regulation package contains construction detail; a full construction package usually goes further, particularly on complex, exposed or heavily glazed projects.
- Can you produce these for a scheme somebody else designed?
- Yes, and we regularly do. We start by checking the approved drawings against a measured survey, because a technical package built on inaccurate existing information inherits the error.
- What formats do I receive?
- Scaled PDFs for issue and printing, with CAD files where the builder, engineer or a supplier needs them.
- Do I need them for a small extension?
- For a simple job a building regulation package with good details is usually enough. The larger and more exposed the project, the more the extra detailing pays for itself.
